Australian actor Jacob Elordi has emerged as the frontrunner to become the next James Bond. Elordi, who recently received an Oscar nomination for his role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and is currently in cinemas in Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights, would make history as the youngest and tallest Bond ever, if he nabbed the role.  He would also be only the second Australian to take on the iconic role, following George Lazenby in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Speculation is building because Elordi’s filming schedule appears conspicuously clear towards the end of the year, aligning with the expected late 2026 production start for the upcoming film. Despite the mounting excitement, Amazon MGM studio executives urged fans to be patient at trade show CinemaCon, with head of film Courtenay Valenti stating the casting is being approached with “care and deep respect,” as the franchise, now helmed by director Denis Villeneuve and screenwriter Steven Knight, targets a 2028 release.
